He was born in Velo, Korinthia, in 1957. He is married to Maria Gargali and they have a daughter and a son.
Diplomat.
PARLIAMENTARY ACTIVITY:
- He was elected MP in Korinthia with PASOK in the election of 2007 and 2009.
- He was elected MEP with PASOK in the Euro election of 2004.
- During the period 2004-2007 he was vice-chairman of the Delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee. He was Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament, Member of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliament Assembly and Substitute of the Committee of the International Trade.
SOCIO-POLITICAL ACTIVITIES
- In 1985 he was admitted in the National School of Public Administration-Diplomatic Department.
- In 1987, he entered the Diplomatic Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- In the period 1992-1996 he served in Brussels in the Hellenic Permanent Delegation in the European Union.
- From February 1999 till the election of March 2004 he was director of the Information Service and spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
STUDIES
- Graduate from Law Faculty, Athens University.
- Postgraduate studies in Paris (University of Sorbonne) in international law and international relations with a scholarship by Onassis Foundation (1982-1985).
